Neuroscience meets practice – my path to the application of innovative neurophysiological methods
Dr. rer. nat. Vanya Stoilova Eckert, M.Sc.-Psych.

After studying psychology with a focus on cognitive neuroscience, I developed a growing desire to gain an even deeper understanding of the complex interactions between the brain, mind, and behavior. This path led me to the University Medical Center Mainz, where I gained valuable experience in research and teaching over several years – particularly in the use of neurophysiological methods and the investigation of connections between neuronal activity and behavior. This time was not only extremely enriching for me professionally, but also a formative period in which I acquired valuable skills that continue to shape my work today.
My passion for neuroscience led me to search for therapeutic approaches that not only address mental processes and their impairments from a psychological perspective, but also incorporate their neurobiological foundations. I found precisely this integrative approach in biofeedback and neurofeedback therapy.
Through my training as a bio- and neurofeedback therapist with the German Society for Biofeedback eV, I have completed the most demanding training in Germany, led by the best-qualified experts.
For me, professional development is not an optional extra, but an essential component of responsible therapeutic work. Therefore, I continuously pursue further training and integrate new, scientifically sound, and promising methods into my practice.
This attitude – bridging the gap between sound science and application-oriented therapy – forms the foundation of my practice philosophy.
